SCECSAL XIV (2000) RESOLUTIONSAfter careful review of the proceedings of SCECSAL XIV, four major issues emerged and these were as follows:
Based on the discussions held on the above subjects, the following resolutions were proposed and adopted at the SCECSAL 2000 General Assembly Meeting on 15th April 2000: That: 1. SCECSAL should set up a Web site and a Webmaster should be appointed and be given powers to coordinate all activities relating to the SCECSAL Web site in consultation with member national library associations. 2. Member library associations that have access to the World Wide Web should be encouraged to set up their own Web sites. 3. The SCECSAL General Assembly should appoint a Committee to look into the feasibility of setting-up the SCECSAL archives. 4. SCECSAL member library associations should encourage their members to acquire relevant information and communication technology skills in order to ensure that they remain relevant in this ever-changing information environment. 5. SCECSAL member library associations, in consultation with the library institutions in member countries should work out appropriate national marketing programmes for library and information services in their countries. IMPLEMENTATIONImplementation and monitoring of the above recommendations was left to the SCECSAL 2000 Secretariat and SCECSAL member library associations.
